Raffaele Giammaria still leader of Blancpain Endurance Series
Sunday, 22 May 2011 on the circuit of Navarra (Spain) there was the second round of the Blancpain Endurance Series organized by the SRO Stephan Ratel.
In the circuit more hard for the Porsche car the team Autorlando crew Giammaria, Roda, Ruberti gained a third place that consolidates them at the head of the overall classification.
The Porsche 997 GT3 R n° 9 starts the week-end very well since the qualifications where, despite a clutch problem, manages to qualify in third position thank to a very fast lap in Q3 with Raffaele.
Roda makes a wonderful start of the race, in which even manages to occupy temporarily the second position, before resells it to Ferrari n°1 of Team Vita4one, which is then the winner of the race.
Raffaele, insteade, did the middle stint in which gained a lot of positions lost during the various Safety Car due to many accidents that have occurred after the first hour of the race and he give the car to Ruberti in second position.
Ruberti at the beginning of his stint does not seem to have problems in maintaining the pace, but toward the 30 minutes to the checkered flag his Porsche broke the first gear, very used in this circuit, and was forced to reduce the speed and he was overtaken by the Audi, cutting the finish line in third position.
Raffaele Giammaria: "A third place in Spain goes beyond what we would have expected before this race. Navarra is a track that give a big advantage to others cars equipped with the paddle-shift gear. We in 5-6 corners had to use the first gear and this is not the maximum for the mechanics of the car and also for the drivers that we have struggled to manage the situation. Obviously that at the moment in which we found ourselves in the second position we all thought at the final victory. But anyway with this podium we are always leader of the championship and we arrive with a lot of confidence to the next race that will be the 24 hours of Spa next July 30".
