Raffaele wins in Portimao (Portugal) the 6th round of International Gt Open: victory and fastest lap!

Great and clear affirmation of the Ferrari 458 GT2 n°3 of the Racing Team Edil-cris led by Raffaele Giammaria and his team-mate Miguel Ramos. In race 1 of Saturday afternoon Raffaele performed in a spectacular starting that enabled him to overcome both Montermini that Peter, winning the leadership of the race from the first corner and then give the race an incessant rhythm with the result to dispose of the car to Ramos with a good gap of advantage that the portuguese has skillfully managed until the checkered flag.

In race 2 of Sunday, after the start made by Ramos, Raffaele remounted from 11th position until the 4th absolute, gaining important points that now allow Ramos placed in second position in the overall standings behind the french Ayari.

Raffaele Giammaria: "The weekend in Portugal has been fantastic. Since the free practice of Thursday and Friday i understood that our Ferrari was very competitive. Then, among other things, the circuit in the Algarve, difficult and technical, like a lot because it suits my driving style and already two years ago in my only appearance in Portimao i did a beautiful pole-position. Saturday, instead, i lost pole position only for a technical problem, but we won the same a great race.

I wanted only to win. I started for the race very determined to gain the first position. I pushed for all my stint, marking the fastest lap of the race. Then Miguel has administered the great and for us came a victory that deserved already for a long time.

In the race of Sunday, on the other hand, we have made a strategic race, gaining the most points, but reducing handicap-time and so we will be presenting at Monza, the next race, with only 5 seconds as handicap time for drivers change. Of course, an infinite thanks goes to all the Racing Team Edil-Cris of Giancristiano Cavalleri, the technical director Enio Bolsieri, sporting director Giorgio Piccolo and all the guys in the team that in these months have worked very hard to develop this new Ferrari F458 GT2".

The next appointment with the International GT Open will be held on the weekend of 01 – 02 October 2011 on the circuit of Monza – Italy, the temple of speed.
